Chamber Business Club chips in to help
Forum help local disabled people

Members of the local business community have chipped in with a £250 donation to North Lanarkshire Disability Forum to help them help local disabled people cope with some of the increasing difficulties they are experiencing.
Forum treasurer Fiona Johnson explains: “The timing of this donation couldn’t have been better, for we are looking at sourcing funding to help people cope with the new changes in the Disability Living Allowance.
“The changes are affecting a lot of people, and we’re planning to set up a clinic to represent service-users, carers and people with disabilities – to answer questions, sign-post them to other organisations and support and arrange consultations.”
The offer to help and provide moral support came from The 1700 Business Networking Club which is affiliated to the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and meets fortnightly in The Bentley Hotel, Motherwell.

Business Club chairman Kenneth McDonach of McDonach Consultancy and Support Services, said: “At the turn of the year we had a very healthy balance as the monthly subscriptions from our lively membership built up.
“We consider ourselves to be a successful business networking group which regularly passes a fair degree of business leads among members, so we wanted to share that positive outlook with some of those less fortunate in our community.
“The Forum seems to be carrying out a most worthwhile function locally and on behalf of our members I’m delighted to be able to handover this modest cheque in the hope that it enables them to assist more disabled people through a stressful period.”
