New Office Bearers for The 1700 Club 2009

Lanarkshire’s premier business networking club which meets fortnightly over breakfast at Fir Park’s Centenary Club has drafted in a new set of office-bearers.

Colin Dick of Motherwell-based Clydeforth Promotional Products Ltd has stepped up after a year as vice-chairman to chair The Business Networking 1700 Club which operates under the auspices of Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce.

He succeeds Kenny McDonach of McDonach Consultancy Support Services who will remain a member of the club’s management committee.

The new chairman said: “As a members’ club designed to help each other’s business grow, it is club policy to share responsibility of taking the voluntary posts and avoid pressurising any one business representative.

Spirited gesture.... as The 1700 Club's new Chairman Colin Dick (2nd left) makes a presentation on behalf of club members to retiring Chairman Kenny McDonach, as secretary Alex McGrouther (left) and Treasurer Ian Watson look on.

“This is the first time in the club ‘s 11-year history that all three posts changed hands at the same time, but while the timing is purely coincidental, it provides a fresh thrust from ‘the ranks’ which we hope will take the club forward in a business-boosting environment and encourage new members to share in our success.”

The new secretary is Alex McGrouther from Uddingston-based Website Development company, PMGWEB, who takes up the post after a two-year stint by Evelyn Dickson of Motherwell Chartered Quantity Surveyors Dickson Associates.

Ian Watson of Watson & Co, Chartered Accountants in Motherwell becomes the new treasurer in succession to Maria Cochrane who has retired as a Business Development Manager with Airdrie Savings Bank.

New vice-chairman is David Edwards who heads up D E Product Labels Ltd in Netherton Industrial Estate, Wishaw.
